Red Seal Homes Announces Exciting Community In Historic Galewood Neighborhood On Chicago’s Northwest Side
Enclave At Galewood Crossings To Feature Wide Variety Of Single-Family And Multi-Family Homes As Part Of Dramatic Redevelopment Of Galewood Yards

Chicago, IL - (May 19, 2006) - Red Seal Homes of Northbrook has announced the grand opening of the Enclave at Galewood Crossings, a new urban neighborhood that is part of the dramatic redevelopment of the historic Galewood Yards, a former rail yard on Chicago’s far west side at 1900 N. Central Avenue, extending from Laramie to Austin Avenues. The Galewood Yards is the largest undeveloped piece of land remaining within the city limits of Chicago. This 50-acre property is being redeveloped into a progressive mixed-use neighborhood that will feature a 14-screen movie theater, a Laborers’ Union Training Center and 187 new single and multi-family homes. Red Seal’s grand opening will occur May 20, 2006 on-site at Galewood Crossings.

“We’re very excited about being able to create a new city community that represents the very best of urban architectural features set among private parks and open spaces. The Enclave at Galewood Crossings represents an amazing opportunity for buyers to be able to purchase a new home at prices that are truly affordable for this type of new construction,” said Brian Hoffman, vice chairman and chief financial officer of Red Seal Development Corporation. “What we have designed for this community is a mix of single-family homes, condominiums and two types of townhomes. This variety combines the best housing value in the City today with a beautiful neighborhood setting.”

The Enclave at Galewood Crossings is located at Access Drive (1900 N. Central Avenue), just east of the Central Avenue Bridge between Grand and North Avenue on Chicago’s northwest side. Red Seal will build 187 homes on 15 acres, consisting of the following: 17 3,000 square foot single-family homes on oversized 30-foot wide lots; 40 smaller single-family homes; 54 condominiums; 53 27-foot wide Crossings townhomes and 23 traditional three-story townhomes. Prices start at $425,900 for the single-family homes; $299,900 for the townhomes and $239,900 for the condominiums. All pre-construction pricing is preliminary and is subject to change.

“What makes the Enclave at Galewood Crossings a model for neighborhood planning is the well thought-out layout we have created for this community,” Hoffman said. “The park system was designed first, with the homes then added in, to create a spectacular living environment. There are neighborhood scale setbacks from the roadways, allowing our buyers to enjoy their porches and balconies, along with a carefully designed fencing plan to crate both communal and private open spaces. The two-acre main park includes a tot lot and there are a series of smaller parks and even a separate dog park to give the neighborhood a real hometown feel amid the vibrancy and excitement of the City of Chicago.”

Easy access to the Galewood Sales Center can be had by the new $23 million dollar Central Avenue Bridge. The community will feature alley-load garages for each home.

Red Seal will have a 3,000 square foot sales and financing center on-site at Galewood Crossings starting May 20th, staffed with experienced sales representatives. Through a special arrangement with Northern Trust Bank, a dedicated mortgage banker will also work within the sales center to provide tailored financing and custom mortgage programs to meet the needs of the buyers.

The home designs at Galewood Crossings are entirely new plans that Red Seal has developed specifically for this neighborhood.

The community’s location on Chicago’s far west side makes commuting to employers in both the city and suburbs very convenient. Easy access is provided by Central Avenue, which runs north and south and connects to the Eisenhower expressway (I-290.) Metra trains stop at the nearby Hanson Park and Cragin stations as part of the Milwaukee District West Line. The Hansen and Galewood parks, the Columbus Park golf course and Loretto Hospital are also close by.

“We’re anticipating a tremendous response to the opening of the Enclave at Galewood Crossings, because it is a ‘first of its kind’ community for the City,” said Hoffman.

The Enclave at Galewood Crossings is located at Access Drive (1900 N. Central Avenue) in Chicago, between Grand Avenue and North Avenue. To visit, take the Eisenhower Expressway (I-290) to Central Avenue north, exit at the eastbound bridge exit (just north of North Avenue), east to the community. The sales center will be opening May 20th. For more information, call Red Seal at (773) 237-8900 or visit www.redsealhomes.com.
