Family Among The First To Purchase At Galewood Crossings On Chicago’s Northwest Side
Exciting Single-Family And Multi-Family Neighborhood By Red Seal Homes Features Variety Of Floor Plans Placed In Park-Like Setting
Chicago, IL - (June 9, 2006) - The Enclave at Galewood Crossings has been an out-of-the-box success story on Chicago’s northwest side. As the largest piece of undeveloped land remaining within Chicago, Red Seal Homes of Northbrook has designed a dynamic residential neighborhood in a park like setting, that has caught the eye of many buyers since opening for pre-construction sales in late May. With brisk sales, Judy and Ruben Leon are among the first buyers at this community and are looking forward to living in the spacious tri-level townhome they have purchased.
The Enclave at Galewood Crossings is located at Access Drive (1900 N. Central Avenue), just east of the Central Avenue Bridge between Grand and North Avenue on Chicago’s northwest side. Red Seal will build 187 homes on 15 acres, consisting of 17 3,000 square foot single-family homes on oversized 30-foot wide lots; 40 smaller single-family homes; 54 condominiums; 53 27-foot wide Crossings townhomes and 23 traditional three-story townhomes. Prices start at $425,900 for the single-family homes; $299,900 for the townhomes and $239,900 for the condominiums. All pre-construction pricing is subject to change.
“I have lived in the city my entire life and currently, we live right around the corner from Galewood Crossings. There was a lot of talk in the neighborhood about this new development and many of us were anxious to see the plans and learn more about the homes,” Judy said. “We wanted to remain in the area and the design of the homes along with the layout of the community looked great to us. I felt Galewood Crossings would be a safe and attractive neighborhood for my family.”
The Enclave at Galewood Crossings is a new urban neighborhood that will transform the site of the historic Galewood Yards, a former rail yard. Measuring 50-acres in total, in addition to the 187 homes that Red Seal is constructing, the property will also feature a mixed-use neighborhood with a 14-screen movie theater and a state-of-the-art Laborers’ Union Training Center.
Red Seal has invested years in the design and layout of Galewood Crossings to create a one-of-a-kind neighborhood that combines the ambiance of a suburban setting with the vibrancy of a city address. There are neighborhood scale setbacks from the roadways, which will allow buyers like the Leons to enjoy their porches and balconies on a warm summer night, along with a carefully designed fencing plan to create both communal and private open spaces.
One of the centerpiece features of this neighborhood is the two-acre main park, which includes a tot lot. There are also a series of smaller parks plus a dog park, to give the neighborhood a true community feeling.
Judy and her husband were so impressed with what Red Seal had to offer at Galewood Crossings, they purchased the same day they visited the community. Judy had done research on Red Seal and investigated some of the communities the company has built during their 70-plus years in business. The couple felt confident in purchasing their townhome off of plans, knowing that Red Seal will deliver a quality, well-appointed townhome that fits their needs perfectly.
“Since we have two growing boys, we wanted much more space than the small home we now live in. We were looking for a new construction plan that would be maintenance-free, with four bedrooms and more baths than we currently have,” said Judy.
The Leons selected a floor plan from the Crossings series of townhomes at the community. At 27’ wide, these designs are more spacious townhome plans that what is normally seen in urban construction. The GW-5 model the couple chose is a four bedroom, three-bath home with living on three different levels, with 2,300 square feet of total space. Their home will be ready next year.
The ground level features the home’s main entryway, with a flexible den or fourth bedroom on one side of the foyer. A full bath and access to the two-car garage with refuse storage area is also featured on this level.
The main second floor living area has an oversized combination living/dining room and a family room that is open to the kitchen. A balcony that runs the entire width of the home is accessed through sliding glass doors in the family room.
The top level of this townhome features two secondary bedrooms, a hall bath and a laundry closet. The spacious master suite features windows on two sides for plenty of natural light and includes a walk-in closet and private full bath.
The level of standard features, which includes hardwood floors in the entry; kitchen; family room; living room and dining room, impressed Judy. The baths feature ceramic tile floors and shower walls. Quality cabinetry, vanities and painted six panel doors and trim add to the elegance of these homes. On the outside, the exteriors are designed with a clean, modern look with masonry and siding construction.
“We also selected a corner lot, which will be nice for our boys to play on. Another thing I really liked about the design of this townhome is that there are windows on three sides, which will really make everything feel very open and bright,” Judy said.
The family also appreciated the layout of the entire neighborhood, which integrates the single-family and townhomes throughout the community, giving it a great feel. Judy said that her mother-in-law was also impressed with Galewood Crossings, so much so that she purchased at the community as well.
“Galewood Crossings will be a secure place for our children to play and having a larger home that is brand new will be a pleasure,” said Judy.
The Enclave at Galewood Crossings is located at Access Drive (1900 N. Central Avenue) in Chicago, between Grand Avenue and North Avenue. To visit, take the Eisenhower Expressway (I-290) to Central Avenue north, exit at the eastbound bridge exit (just north of North Avenue), east to the community. The sales center is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information, call (773) 237-8900 or visit www.redsealhomes.com.
